Muskegon Yacht Club offers free, two-night sailing seminar beginning Thursday
19.05.12
In Muskegon, you don’t have to charter a boat with a captain or go out on an expensive cruise. On Muskegon Lake, the Muskegon Yacht Club is offering to get anyone interested in sailing out on the water.
And the cost is right.
The two-evening introduction to sailing seminar this Thursday and May 24 is free to the public. Prior registration isn’t needed.
Those interested in sailing just need to show up at Muskegon Yacht Club, 3198 Edgewater between 6 and 7 p.m. Thursday. The two Thursday seminars are from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The first session will be learning the basics of sailing and an introduction to the on-the-water training that will come the second week. The instructor is Bill Anderson, a MYC sailboat racer who is also a minister and real estate agent.
The yacht club members are helping out on May 24 to get the seminar participants on the water. Members will offer on the water instruction on board sailboats from 24 to 35 feet in length but participants can also chose a smaller boat – a JY 15 – either with a skipper or by themselves.
