Flagler supervisor seeks voting precinct changes after redistricting
BUNNELL -- Flagler County commissioners will likely approve voting precinct changes at Monday's regular meeting.
"(Supervisor of Elections) Kimberle Weeks has proposed collapsing some precincts," said County Administrator Craig Coffey. "Some changes are required because of redistricting (a result of new census figures)."
Weeks said in a letter to commissioners that making the changes now would save the county time and money because it would in essence combine two separate mailings.
"It is a cost savings to the tax payers to adjust voting precincts at this time as we are required to mail all voters replacement voter information cards as a result of redistricting and we would not have to send a duplicate mailing," she said. "As you are aware the school board and commission district numbering changes affected the majority of the county voters."
Weeks will also ask the County Commission for $35,000 in contingency funds to cover the cost of the mailing, according to the information provided to commissioners along with the meeting agenda.
Their idea was to go after the luxury dayboat time-share club market — a market they would actually be creating. “Yachting made simple,” their slogan went.
