Club Championship Brought Families Together
Among the events scheduled the weekend of June 17-19 at Balboa YC were the Area J Sears Qualifier, as well as the Masters Championship, the Family Championship and the Club Championship. All were sailed in a fleet of Governor’s Cup 21 boats, designed by staff commodore Alan Andrews and outfitted with sails by Dave Ullman of Ullman Sails — both Balboa YC members.
Among this year’s competitors were many of Balboa YC’s strong young racers, including Chris Nesbitt, who has been racing in many competitions all over the U.S. Members of past and future Balboa YC Governor’s Cup teams were racing, as well.
Andrews and his wife, Molly Lynch, raced in all three of the championships. For the Masters, they raced with Judi Gorski, vice commodore of Balboa YC. For the Friday evening Family Championship, Alan’s mother joined the couple. On Saturday, for the Club Championship, Molly and Alan were joined by friend Greg Newman.
